The online application process for these jobs—or perhaps “gigs” is the better word, since they're all for independent contractors—is pretty simple and straightforward with very little required of candidates. Some of these opportunities—like the micro-jobs—you could very well apply and start the same day. And these jobs require very little commitment and can typically be done on your own schedule.
Tech is also experiencing a shortage of talent for a number of jobs, and hiring remote workers opens the talent pool for companies seeking STEM workers. Boris Kontsevoi, founder and president of Intetics Co says, “In the tech sphere, the majority of the work happens on the computer and online. As a result, the location of the person is no longer as important, as long as they have a reliable Internet connection.”
If you're a good typist, you may be able to pick up a little cash from home using that skill. If you're a really great typist, well, then you may be able to earn some good money in transcription. In addition to general transcription, there are opportunities for transcribing in both the medical and legal fields. In some specialized fields, certification may be required.
Work-from-home writing jobs run the gamut from freelancing for consumer magazines to blogging to crowdsourcing editing jobs. Typically, work-from-home writers and editors work as freelancers. Alternatively, you could always consider becoming a freelancer and look for home-based writing and editing jobs.

All you need is a computer, internet access and our training program. Would you be interested? Chances are you would be! I know I would be too! Lucky for you that I stumbled across some crazy back door information about the rebate processors position that's going to knock your socks off. Trust me when I say you'll be so thankful that I go to the bottom of this opportunity.
The great news is, there are viable alternatives that fit most if not all of these criteria, and the pay is substantially better than data entry. They might require a tiny bit of brainpower and the faster you can type, the better you’ll do — but neither of these should be hurdles that are big enough to stop you from pursuing your work-at-home dreams.
Work at home transferring data from one source to another. Most of these companies do not require past experience, although with few exceptions the pay may not be enough to consider it a stable income. Before you begin applying to any of the companies below (many of which sadly are almost never hiring), you might want to read the post I wrote about data entry jobs from home. It explains what your expectations should be prior to pursuing a career in this industry.
